Fadwa Mahmoud

Fadwa Mahmoud is a political and civil activist, formerly detained due to her affiliation with the Communist Labor Party in Syria from 1982 till present. She moved to Berlin in 2014. Along with other Syrian women, she established “Families for Freedom”, an independent civil movement demanding to know the whereabouts of and freedom for all the detainees, abducted and forcibly disappeared in Syria. Mahmoud was a member of the Women’s Advisory Board to the Negotiation Committee in Geneva in 2016 and a member of the Constitutional Committee/civil society group in Geneva in 2019.
